My love of jewelry started with exploring and trying on my Mom and Grandmother’s jewelry collections. I would sit at their dressing tables for hours and carefully open velvet boxes tucked neatly in wrapping tissue and find treasure after treasure. I loved watching my Mom get ready for parties and special nights out. She would select the perfect pieces to complement her look for the evening and in my mind there was no one else as sophisticated and beautiful as my mom in those moments.
I have the joy of owning and wearing many of my Mom and Grandmother’s pieces now, some with tags of their handwriting which makes them even more treasured. Each piece holds memories and feelings of those women that I carry with me every time I choose something they used to wear. I love that their jewelry keeps them close to me and sparks cherished memories of them. These heirloom pieces are a part of my legacy to pass on one day and I’m adding my own unique and adored pieces.
The jewelry I have bought through the years has helped me mark special occasions: milestone birthdays, my wedding, anniversaries, graduations, and births. When I wear those pieces the memories of those momentous events become so present in my mind. I hope that one day, when my jewelry gets passed on to another generation, the pieces I have held so dear will bring happy memories to those who wear them after me.
